Pours a golden color with a white fizzy head. Nose is sweet, malty, vanilla, slight bourbon notes. Flavors are the same as the nose with some clove and banana flavors as well. The bourbon is not as strong as it is in a fresher beer and the alcohol is not as noticeable either. Not bad for a 5yr old tripel. I will have to re-rate it with a fresher bottle but still a good beer.

750ml Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange color. Nose is citrus, funk and slight sourness. Nice earthy aromas mixed with the citrus. Taste is the same as the nose with citrus, apricot and orange peel flavors, with some good funk. Nice acidity to it as well. Great beer.

12oz bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty malts and chocolate. Taste is big chocolate flavors, roasty, coffee and some dark fruits ending with a slight bitter finish. Nice balance. Body is medium/full and flavors last for a while. Like how can’t really tell the high ABV. Solid beer.

From a growler. Pours a amber/orange color with a small white head. Nose is pine, citrus, nice hops and a touch of sweetness. Flavor is nice and crisp, citrus and fruit flavors with bitter hop flavor in the end. Nice dry finish and great balance between hops and sweetness. Good beer.

First aromas on the nose are full of bourbon and dark malts as well as some wood notes. Flavors are full of bourbon, dark chocolate, nice richness to it as well, can also taste the wood from the barrel aging. Nice smooth finish which lingers for a quite a bit. Full bodied. Love this beer especially the big bourbon flavors.

Growler. Pours our almost black with a tan head. Aromas are coffee, roasted malts, and nutty. Goes down real smooth full of coffee, chocolate and roasted flavors. Finishes nice and dry and slightly bitter with a nice balance. Great beer especially since its so easy drinking.

Malty, slightly sweet nose with some caramel.
The palate is rather unassuming but to be expected from a "mass produced".
It has some substance at least which is a lot considering the other big boys of brewing.
Not the best I have had but not the worst. 4 times out of 5, it will be the best thing on tap at a bar.

Full sized, fizzy, tan head made of large, well spaced bubbles. Nose is bready, yeasty, a bit of clean smoke (could be suggestion, maybe not as the licorice escapes me), some musty funk, fruits, caramel malt, and spices. Same flavors with some toastiness and peppery notes. Dry, yeasty finish. Full, doughy, balanced body. Very flavorful, very drinkable. Another top notch brew from Allagash.
